Quick Gumbo

This is my take on a classic when I want to enjoy gumbo but don’t have all the time to stand over the stove making it. You can certainly substitute for preference but there are a few things that are vital. The first is Gumbo File spice. This makes the dish and can’t be left out. The second is the white pepper. It’s specific for a reason. The spices are very unique to gumbo and without them you get more of a soup. Feel free to add some Old Bay Louisiana hot sauce along with the spices if you enjoy the heat. I also prefer to use microwave rice to serve it with to make my life easier but if you make your own rice just make sure to cook it before adding it to your gumbo otherwise it will make the stew gummy.
